Loose Caboose are the band you always wanted to be as a kid: pounding drums, throbbing baselines, searing guitars and rasping vocals delivered with a Monkees-style irreverence for the dry plodding convention of your Dads record collection. Singer/guitarist Tom and drummer Olly first met through a shared love for The Beatles in the incestuous Winchester music scene.
Soon they met Ben Startup (bass), infamous local studio owner, former warzone worker and general local svengali. They realised they had everything they needed to form a band it would be churlish not to so with characteristic ease they pounded out a set of raucous, wry guitar-pop tunes of exemplary catchiness.
It proved to be a smart move. One day the a band of similarly-minded chancers called The Holloways passed through Bens studio to demo some tunes. While waiting for Loose Caboose to finish jamming in the next room they decided on the spot to take them on tour, and Loose Caboose havent looked back since, with triumphant shows in celebrated venues like The Cavern, Roadhouse and even a TV appearance for E4.
Their debut EP, Yoko crackles and fizzes with an effervescence and a energy that made up for the musical and meteorological damp squib that was summer 2007. Released through Bleak Mouse Records, were very glad they gave us a track for the Vol.11 sampler and damn-well-wetting-our-pants waiting for the next recorded installment of the runaway pop sensation that is Loose Caboose!
